Cononley Festival of Scarecrows 2010
As a result of the phenomenal success of Cononley’s first ever ‘Festival of Scarecrows’ we have decided to hold the event again and we are hoping to make it even bigger and better! Last year, Cononley was filled with nearly 90 scarecrows and with your help we would love to try and beat that number in 2010.
The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Around the World in Scarecrows’ and we are looking forward to seeing a wealth of Scarecrows from the different countries and continents around the world. For those looking for some extra inspiration we will be holding two Scarecrow Building Workshops on Thursday 22nd April between 7 – 10pm and Saturday 24th April between 2 – 4.30pm in the Institute, where we will also be providing some of the core materials and some liquid refreshments to help the creative juices flow!
The event will be running over the weekend of 1st – 3rd May. Throughout this time the village will be open for visitors to enjoy your creations.
In addition, on Bank Holiday Monday we will be holding two Duck Races down the beck, a Scarecrow Trail, awarding prizes for the best scarecrows, opening up a market place of stalls and providing refreshments throughout the day in the Institute.
During March you will receive a letter containing further details of the event and also an entry form to be completed so that you can enter your Scarecrow creation into the competition and appear in the programme. If you would like to help with this year’s event or you have any unwanted wood or material suitable for Scarecrow building please contact Julian Brown on julianbrown133@btinternet.com or 637176.
We all live in a fantastic village so let’s make this event a memorable occasion for everyone.
